![]() Nisse (Z): reformed church
The reformed church of Nisse, also known as
Mariakerk,
is a big one-aisled cruciform church in Gothic style. The tower was
built at the end of the 14th century and shows similarities to other
towers in the area, being decorated with undeep niches and supported by
heavy buttresses. On top is a short polygonal part. Originally it had a spire
surrounded by four corner-turrets,
which were removed in 1805. The current spire was added in 1921-1922 as
part
of a restoration lead by H. van der Kloot Meijburg, who also added a cuppola to
the stair-turret.
